Last summer I interned with Turner
Construction Company building the 1.1 Billion
Dollar ucla Westwood Replacement Hospital. I
had a great experience despite having to wake
up at 5am to be on site by 6:15. I was very
fortunate and actually out on site working
with the contractors and doing the engineering
work that was required. The summer before I
had interned with The Boeing Company building
the C-17 military airlifter and had a good
experience, but I discovered that the
aerospace industry was not for me. Interning
this summer I was able to learn that I wanted
to pursue a career in the construction
industry. I obtained my internship though my
student engineering society SHPE-USC, of which
I have been actively involved and have taken
leadership roles; this year I am president. I
attended the national career conference and
met a USC alumni who was at the career fair
and she set up an interview for me just
because I was from USC and I met her at the
Viterbi career fair a month or so before. I
enjoy my internship so much that I am actually
continuing to work this semester on Fridays
and Saturdays. Also, they have already said
that they are going to extend me an offer to
work full time after I graduate.
Fight On!!!
